Quaker-Oats Contains Cancer Causing Pesticide And Now Is Being Sued For That!
New York and California customers filed a lawsuit against the owner that the oatmeal involves pesticide glyphosate traces. After that, there were test done to analyze the oat’s ingredients by independent laboratory in California. The researchers have used chromatography-mass spectrometry that is a procedure used by chemical and medical labs for drug research.
It has been found that the sample that has been tested contained traces of glyphosate and the company was sued for false advertising, because it claims the product is 100 percent natural. The Quaker Oats company said that they didn’t use chemicals in their product, and that these traces are probably from the pesticides that are sprayed on the oats by the farmers. This chemical acts as active ingredient in many pesticides like Roundup. The popular pesticide is regularly used since 1974, and the International Agency for Research on Cancer in 2015 placed it in a category of probable cancer cause.
It also leads to other long term health issues.
The experts claim that it is a result of the glyphosate’s ability to interfere in the vitamin A amounts.
Studies have also found strong relation between the Attention Deficit Disorder and Roundup in farming communities and it is believed that this is because of the glyphosate’s ability to disrupt the thyroid hormone’s function.
The glyphosate affects the body’s serotonin production and with that it affects appetite, mood and sleep and that leads to depression.
